PRIORITIZING SELF-CARE

As entrepreneurs, it's easy to get caught up in the hustle and forget about taking care of yourself, but self-care is crucial to avoiding burnout and staying on top of your game! Here are some tips from Speak Woman Magazine to help you prioritize self-care, even with a busy life:
  1. Schedule it in: Just like you schedule meetings and work tasks, make sure you schedule time for self-care activities. Treat it like an important appointment that you can't miss!
  2. Find small pockets of time: Even if you can't take a whole day off, find small pockets of time throughout the day to do something that makes you feel good. Maybe it's a 10-minute here and there.
  3. Get support: Don't be afraid to ask for help! Hire a virtual assistant or delegate tasks to free up some time for yourself. Or reach out to a friend or family member for support.
***Remember, taking care of yourself is not selfish, it's necessary for your well-being and success as an entrepreneur!

Trailblazing Black Women In Business

Throughout history, Black Women have faced significant barriers in the business world. Despite these challenges we have persevered and made significant contributions to the world of business. From the early pioneers of the 19th century to the modern-day innovators of today, Black Women have broken barriers and paved the way for future generations. One of the early pioneers of Black Women in business was Madam C.J. Walker who built a successful business empire that included hair products, beauty schools, and sales agents across the country. Another trailblazer in business was Maggie Lena Walker. Walker was the first Black woman to charter a bank in the United States, the St. Luke Penny Savings Bank in Richmond, Virginia. She also founded the St. Luke Herald newspaper, which focused on issues affecting the Black community.
In the modern era, Black Women continue to make significant contributions to the business world despite being grossly underrepresented in leadership roles, with just 1% of Fortune 500 companies having a Black female CEO. The accomplishments of Black Women in business serve as an inspiration and a reminder of the resilience and perseverance of our spirit. As we celebrate Women’s History Month, let us honor the contributions of all trailblazers and continue to work towards a more diverse and inclusive business world.
